The gauge of the sharp needle needs to be slightly superior to the gauge of the microcannula in use.
Use the length of the Microcannula as a point of reference to where to make the hole.
Follow these tips from our most advanced injectors to guarantee an easy entry into the skin:
A tip from Dr. Rajani: If you want to remain superficial, by pushing the cannula against the skin, The cannula bends and the tip goes back up.
As you are entering the skin, rotate the cannula tangentially to the skin surface using the flexibility of the microcannula.
If any resistance is encountered, go back and forth without forcing.
Start injecting while pulling the length of the microcannula in and out of the skin. To change direction, pull the cannula out of the skin almost entirely, back to step two (leaving the tip at the desired depth).
You can fan the area 360 degrees around the hole.
It's recommended to massage the skin after the injection to make sure the filler has been evenly distributed.
Easy to use, with no bruising!
I love these microcannulas. They are very easy to use and my feedback from my patients has been overwhelmingly positive. Much less discomfort and no bruising.

These cannulas work as advertised. This larger gauge is required for perlane. Minimal pain and minimal bruising. I agree these are safer than Sharp needles. Pricey, but I don't see an alternative.

I have been using these microcannulas for injecting fillers to the entire orbital area by tunneling the microcannula to the areas to be treated. I have also been using the same technique to add filler to the face and jawline. My patients are extremely happy with the results.
